Italy was at its third week of lockdown when Nicotine Magazine approached me to ask for a series of diptychs in the spirit of optimism once the COVID 19 emergency would be over.

As I was working on the assignment, I realised the uncertain times we were living in made it impossible to predict the events of the next day, let alone see so far ahead in the future. In these diptychs, I did not try to force an optimistic prospect. It was more of an exercise in searching for silver linings during lockdown. They were found in the only spaces I was inhabiting at the moment: my apartment, the garage, the shared courtyard.
